How often do you need to clean the diffuser?

How often do you need to clean the diffuser?

The frequency of cleaning the diffuser depends on many factors. Here are some common situations and recommended cleaning intervals:

  Usage frequency

High frequency use: If you use the diffuser for a long time every day, it is recommended to clean it once a week. Frequent use will cause more aromatherapy essential oil residues, scale and microorganisms to accumulate inside the diffuser. Regular cleaning can ensure its normal operation and misting effect, and also avoid the potential threat of bacteria to health.

Medium frequency use: If you use it about 3 to 4 times a week, you can clean it every 2 weeks or so. At this frequency of use, there are relatively few residues inside the diffuser, but there may be some accumulation after 2 weeks. Timely cleaning can prevent dirt from solidifying and bacteria from growing.

Low frequency use: If you only use the diffuser occasionally, such as 1 to 2 times a month, you can clean it once a month or simply clean it before each use.

  Types of Aromatherapy Essential Oils

Pure plant essential oils: Pure plant essential oils are relatively pure, but long-term use may leave some residue inside the aromatherapy machine. Generally, they can be cleaned according to the frequency of use and the corresponding cleaning intervals for high, medium and low frequencies mentioned above.

Aromatherapy essential oils with added chemical ingredients: This type of essential oil may contain some impurities or additives, which are more likely to produce precipitation and residue inside the aromatherapy machine, so it is recommended to shorten the cleaning interval appropriately, such as cleaning every 5 days when used at high frequency, every 10 days when used at medium frequency, and every 2 to 3 weeks when used at low frequency.

  Water quality

Use purified water: If purified water is used as the water source of the aromatherapy machine, there are fewer impurities in the water, and the possibility of scale is also smaller, so the cleaning interval can be relatively extended.

Use tap water: Tap water contains more impurities such as minerals, which can easily form scale inside the aromatherapy machine, affecting the service life and misting effect of the aromatherapy machine. Therefore, it needs to be cleaned more frequently. Generally, it should be cleaned every 3 to 4 days when used at high frequency, once a week when used at medium frequency, and once every 2 weeks when used at low frequency.

When cleaning the aromatherapy machine, you should first unplug the power supply, then pour out the remaining liquid in the water tank, wipe the inside and outside of the aromatherapy machine with a clean damp cloth, and for stubborn stains, you can use a mild detergent to clean it, but be careful to avoid the detergent entering the circuit part of the aromatherapy machine. After cleaning, rinse it thoroughly with clean water, and dry it or wipe it dry before reusing it.
